Getting enough food to eat is still difficult for many people in the Rio Grande Valley.

One organization has stepped up its efforts to make sure kids don't go hungry.

According to the RGV Food Bank, nearly one in two children in the Valley live at or below the federal poverty level. The pandemic is making matters worse as many parents lose their jobs.

Doug Hargis heads PepsiCo's Food for Good program. He said they've given out more than 750,000 meals across the Valley. He said they prioritized rural areas because many students don't have access to transportation.

The meals were delivered through a partnership with Be a Champion.

Correction: Food for Good is not a nonprofit organization; it is a program of PepsiCo.
