PHARR – A murder suspect is claiming self-defense in the case of a Pharr stabbing over the weekend.

Feliciano Avalos Jr. is facing three charges in the death of another man.

A Pharr police spokesperson says it started with an altercation Sunday night that led up to the deadly stabbing.

Avalos Jr. says he did it out of self-defense.

“I was attacked and it was my right to defend myself and my home,” he claimed in front of a judge Monday. “I was in fear for my life and that’s what I’m claiming, that’s what I’m pleading.”

The victim in the incident was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

If found guilty, Avalos could face up to 99 years in jail.

His bond was set at over $1 million.

Anyone with additional information on the case is asked to contact Pharr police at 956-787-8477.
