Power Companies Asking Customers to Conserve Energy
MCALLEN – Rio Grande Valley power companies are asking customers to conserve energy.
They say preventing high power usage during hot summer days could rule out the risk of forced blackouts.
The owner of Shipley Do-Nuts, David Duff, says on Thursday, their Mission location lost power for five hours during prime baking time.
This comes after Texas used more power in a one-hour period Wednesday than it ever has before, breaking records.
KRGV’s Taylor Winkel has more on why local companies created conservation programs in response to a warning from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas.
