RAYMONDVILLE – Raymondville ISD confirmed some juveniles are in custody after a police investigation.

Several Raymondville ISD parents were seen picking up their children from school after the news spread Wednesday morning.

Raymondville ISD police said they were alerted to an online message of a possible shooting at the junior high school around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police said a new video on Snapchat showed a student with a black BB gun pistol in class.

The district sent out a statement for parents in social media after the student was detained.

Raymondville superintendent Stetson Roan explained the district needs to do a better job of informing parents.

“And owning up as superintendent to the fact we do need to, that I need to do a better job at getting that information out in a timely fashion so that parents and the public can understand what’s going on,” he said.

Police said the student with the BB gun is in custody and facing weapons free-zone charge, a second-degree felony

There have been no other reports of messages circulating around the campus.
