WESLACO – U.S. Customs and Border Protection stated, "nearly every sector across the SW border has exceeded their capacity," in a social media post Saturday.

For the first time since large groups of immigrants began to be released this month due to overcapacity issues, they announced the current overcapacity rates.

According to their data, the Rio Grande Valley is at 174% capacity with 5,355 in custody.

At the McAllen station, they’re at 358% over capacity with 1,369 in custody. 

The Central Processing Center (URSULA) is at 132% capacity with 1,977 in custody.

CBP continues to request change at the congressional level.

A statement released Saturday by Andrew Meehan, Assistant Commissioner for Public Affairs, United States Customs and Border Protection, states:

“Currently, each day nearly 40% of agents on the southwest border are diverted away from our border security mission to care for, transport, and process family units and UACs (unaccompanied children).  DHS is committed to addressing this humanitarian need, but the current situation is unsustainable for Border Patrol operations.”
