SAN BENITO – San Benito police have one suspect in custody and are making some progress in a burglary case they’re hoping to put to rest.

Police are asking the public to report anything they might know in this burglary case that caused a stir in one area.

Images from the incident Monday show a 2013 white Volvo SUV during the burglary on the 1000 block of Chapman Street in San Benito.

The thief took several items and the family’s pet Yorkie.

Police apprehended a suspect during a traffic stop. That arrest led them to the family’s dog, but the other items are still out there.

The police chief says they’re still building a case against the man.

“What we’re asking for is if anybody else has any information on the burglary. There were several items: TVs, PlayStation 4, other electronics that were taken from the home,” said San Benito Police Chief Michael Galvan. “If anybody has any information about this burglary if they could please just call our police department.”

Galvan says video surveillance from a neighbor allowed them to identify the car and the man they have in custody.

He says the best precaution against burglary is to invest in home security cameras and speak to your neighbors to keep an eye out for one another.
