Self-Employed Workers, Independent Contractors Must Pay Social Security Taxes

WESLACO – The Internal Service Revenue has a reminder for certain workers who work seasonally throughout the summer.

Self-employed workers and independent contractors must pay their own social security and Medicare taxes.

These taxes count towards coverage under the Social Security system.

The IRS explains Social Security and Medicare taxes are to be paid even if you don’t have any income tax liability.
