Sheriff’s office: Teen confesses to being high during Brownsville burglary
Two teens remain behind bars after the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office said they broke into a business because one of them said he was high.
Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to a burglary Wednesday at the 3400 block of South Dakota Avenue where they found two individuals fleeing the scene on foot, according to a news release.
The individuals were identified as 19-year-old Eduardo Ruiz and 18-year-old Kayla Rodriguez.
Ruiz, who had a cut on his hand after the teens reportedly broke into the building through a window, confessed to the burglary “saying he did so because he was high,” the news release stated.
Both individuals were arrested on charges of burglary and evading arrest.
