WESLACO – A suspected cartel member is off the Most Wanted list of agencies working to deter illegal activity on both sides of the border.

Mexican authorities arrested the man, known as “El Panillo”, early Friday morning on extortion charges.

The operation that made the arrest possible, Campana de Seguridad y Prosperidad, is fairly new.  

Border Patrol tells KRGV’s Carolina Cruz it’s proven to be successful following the arrest of several targets.
