Temporary Restraining Order Granted for Elsa Amendment
ELSA – A visiting Cameron County judge granted a request for a temporary restraining order on a new charter amendment in Elsa.
The judge heard the case Monday and granted a temporary injunction after the Hidalgo County judge recused himself from the case.
The amendment voted in during the May election would give the city manager the power to appoint people to the Elsa Housing Authority board.
But the Elsa Housing Authority said state law only allows the city mayor to have that power.
A hearing on the case was set for October 10.
