The Latest: Logano edges Kurt Busch, Truex in overtime

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) - The Latest on the NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway (all times EDT):

8:05 p.m.

Joey Logano won his second NASCAR Cup Series race of the season, holding off Kurt Busch and Martin Truex Jr. in overtime.

Logano was trying to hold on to a dwindling lead over Truex and Busch with five laps remaining, but around that time, Erik Jones went onto the grass, bringing out the caution flag that forced overtime. Logano and Truex were up front on the restart, along with Kurt and Kyle Busch, and Logano pulled ahead and held on.

It was the fifth victory of the season for Team Penske and the third in a row for Ford at Michigan International Speedway. This was the 100th race at Michigan for NASCAR's top series.

Austin Dillon won the second stage of Monday's NASCAR Cup Series race, taking advantage of a cycle of pit stops in the final few laps.

Pole winner Joey Logano has led 110 laps of this 200-lap, 400-mile race at Michigan International Speedway. But Logano's was one of several cars that needed to make pit stops toward the end of the second stage, and it was left to Dillon and Kevin Harvick to compete for the lead.

Dillon held on at the end of 120 laps for the stage victory, his first of the season.

Joey Logano led most of the way and won the first stage of NASCAR's Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway.

Logano, the pole winner, held off Alex Bowman for his sixth stage victory of the season, breaking a tie with Kyle Busch for the most of any driver. There was one competition caution, but aside from that, there were no cautions before the end of the stage.

Denny Hamlin and Aric Almirola both led briefly, but it's has been mostly Logano out front. Kurt Busch and Erik Jones have also been among the leaders.

Kevin Harvick, who started in the second row, had to pit near the end of the stage with a loose wheel.

NASCAR's Cup Series race at Michigan is underway.

The race scheduled for Sunday was postponed by rain and pushed back until Monday, when it started without incident. Joey Logano was the pole winner in qualifying, but Denny Hamlin took the lead on the first lap. By the end of the fourth lap, Logano was back in front.

The race at Michigan International Speedway is 400 miles and 200 laps.

NASCAR's Cup Series will try again to hold its race at Michigan International Speedway after rain forced a postponement over the weekend.

Sunday's race was pushed back to Monday at 5 p.m. EDT. The weather was overcast at the track about 90 minutes before the new scheduled start time.

It's the 100th race at Michigan in NASCAR's top series.

Joey Logano won the pole in Saturday's qualifying. Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer won the two Cup races at MIS last year.

Joe Gibbs Racing already has nine victories this season, but Gibbs has only one win in the past 14 races at Michigan. Ford won both races last year and had eight of the top 10 cars in qualifying this past weekend.
