WESLACO – An Alamo man will serve more than seven years in federal prison after being convicted of drug trafficking.

Jaime Valente Pina Jr. will serve 87 months in prison for his part in the operation.

Federal prosecutors said he and his brother moved cocaine from the Rio Grande Valley to Michigan from the summer of 2015 to August 2016.

Both were arrested during an undercover sting operation late last year.

Pina will also serve three years of supervised release.

Pina’s brother, Angel, was sentenced to more than nine years.
