Valley Shrimpers Back at Sea after Taking Refuge in Florida, Louisiana

UPDATE (5/30): Rio Grande Valley shrimpers are now back out at sea.

Gulf waters have begun to calm as Alberto has become a tropical depression.

We're told taking refuge was mandatory.

WESLACO – Rio Grande Valley shrimpers are taking refuge in Florida and Louisiana because of Alberto.

Many Valley shrimpers were fishing along the coast.

One shrimper says a storm in the gulf can be devastating and potentially deadly if caught unprepared.
