WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley woman with ties to South Carolina is keeping a close eye on Hurricane Florence.

Though her family and home are 1,300 miles away, she is still watching weather reports about the storm.

The last storm this size seen in South Carolina was back in 1989.

"Where do we send them? Where do they go? Because, all of the hotels are booked. The roads are being shut down. So, it's a one-way direction. What do we do now?” says South Carolina native Vikki Wright.

She encourages her family to heed all warnings.

KRGV’s Valerie Gonzalez has the details.
