Zoo Workers Helping Animals Beat the Heat

BROWNSVILLE – Staff at a local zoo say they are working around the clock to protect their animals in this extreme heat.

KRGV’s Frank McCaffrey visited the Gladys Porter Zoo on Tuesday. He spoke to a mother whose children worry about how the zoo handles its animals.

“Last time, they saw the tiger and they thought that something was wrong. He wanted to call the zookeeper,” says Cynthia Cardenas.

Zoo staff tell CHANNEL 5 NEWS they take precautions to keep the animals from overheating.
