Authorities Investigate Fatal 3-Vehicle Crash in Edinburg

EDINBURG – Authorities responded to a three-vehicle crash in Edinburg early Monday morning.

It happened at 2:28 a.m. on the northbound lanes of the 4700 block of Expressway 281, near Davis Road.

According to a release, a Jeep Wrangler was traveling in the southbound lanes when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the grassy median and ended up stopping in the northbound lanes of the expressway.

The second vehicle involved, a Chevrolet Equinox, struck the Jeep Wrangler stalled in the northbound lanes. The third vehicle involved, a Dodge Durango, also struck the Jeep stalled in the northbound lanes.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 55-year-old female, reported minor injuries and was transported to the hospital from the scene by ambulance. The driver of the Dodge, a 26-year-old male, did not report any injuries.

The driver of the Jeep Wrangler, a 45-year-old male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
