Business Owners Rebuilding After Reopening of Historic Lift Bridge
RIO HONDO – A historic lift-bridge was reopened about six months ago.
The bridge was closed for massive repairs, taking two years to complete.
Rio Hondo business owners say they are rebuilding after two years of limited clientele.
Liquor store owner, Carlos Garza, says he was concerned for the future of his business after the closure.
"We're probably not back to normal but we're pretty close. We can see a trend where it's slowly coming back and it's just a matter of time," says Garza.
He says the next time the Texas Department of Transportation makes any major renovations to the lift bridge, business owners should be notified six to 12 months in advance.
