Ceremonial groundbreaking held for Taylor Road expansion project

A ceremonial groundbreaking was held Thursday for a big road expansion project in the Mission and McAllen area.
Both cities are working with the Texas Department of Transportation to expand Taylor Road from two to five lines to alleviate traffic congestion.
The road is the boundary between McAllen and Mission, McAllen City Manager Roy Rodriguez said.
“When you look at the traffic going through Taylor Road, it's one of the busiest north-south corridors in our community,” Rodriguez said.
Crews are currently moving power lines and fixing sewage and drainage between Business 83 and the frontage road.
