Investigation Continues for Fatal Palmview House Fire
Hidalgo County Fire Marshal's Office is in charge of the investigation.
They are still searching for answers and getting help from investigators in Starr and Cameron counties.
John Franz, investigator with the Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office, tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS that fire consumes its own evidence.
They tell us they're left trying to gather as much information as they can about the fire and the young girls death.
"During the fire, she called her parents. She called 9-1-1. There was time to get out of the house, but she didn't, because she was scared,” says Franz.
Franz adds no matter where you live, families need to have an emergency plan to get out in case of fire.
One of the neighbors, Kayla Bazan, explains her home also caught fire.
She says her room was just a few feet away from the flames.
Bazan is thankful her neighbors all showed up to help. Now it's time to find a way to recover.
