10th annual South Texas International Film Festival underway
Students in the Rio Grande Valley are getting an inside look into how filmmakers were able to get their idea onto the big screen at the South Texas International Film Festival.
Thursday marked the second day of the four-day festival that screens dozens of movies — including ones filmed in the Valley.
“This year we received 225 films, and out of those we accepted 73. Out of those, 63 will be playing this weekend,” Edinburg Assistant Director of Cultural Arts Magdiel Castoe said. “We hope that everyone comes out to see the movies and enjoy the talent that is here."
Select films will be scored, and the top-rated films from each category will be nominated for awards.
