WESLACO – The government is completing its first week of being fully operational following the temporary end of the partial shutdown.

The aftermath of the 35-day impasse is now being calculated and has had an impact on Rio Grande Valley businesses, according to the Valley Chamber of Commerce.

“It hurts because we have to make the same payments but we aren't making what we need to be," explains Perez.

He says their income has taken a 15 to 20 percent hit.
