Alamo loan office worker arrested after faking knifepoint robbery, police say
An employee at a loan office in Alamo staged a robbery and took the money himself, according to Alamo Police Chief Saul Solis.
Alamo police officers responded to the Security Finance Office at 700 Main St. on Wednesday after an employee reported an armed robbery in progress. The caller said an unknown man had robbed the office at knifepoint, Solis said.
"Following a thorough investigation, officers determined that the reported robbery had been staged by the employee who initially reported the incident," Solis said. "The investigation revealed that no aggravated robbery had occurred and that the employee was responsible for taking the money."
The employee, identified as Israel Aguirre III, was arrested on multiple charges, including theft and false report. According to Solis, Aguirre will be arraigned on Thursday.
