MCALLEN – South Bicentennial Boulevard near the interstate in McAllen is now open.

The project had resulted in several delays near the mall during construction. In the end, crews will convert an overpass to an underpass.

Mayor Jim Darling says it was also needed to help ease congestion.

The Bicentennial Project started in August of last year and isn't expected to be finished until next winter.
