WESLACO – Customs and Border Protection wants international travelers to “Know Before You Go” during the holiday season.

The agency is encouraging travelers to plan ahead to save time on trips.

They’re reminding people to always carry their passport or any other travel documents required when crossing ports of entry.

Travelers need to also be aware of latest restricted items and foods prior to entering. See details on items prohibited here.

People traveling with medication need to have a prescription from their doctor in their original containers.

Owners traveling in or out of the country with their pets must provide proof of vaccinations. CBP reminds people, pets are subject to health, quarantine, agriculture and wildlife requirements. More information about traveling with a pet can be found here.

The agency notes how it also facilitates technology to make the entry process faster for travelers, such as using the Mobile Passport App, biometric scans or applying for Trusted Traveler Programs.
