CBP screening for signs of illness amid coronavirus concerns

WESLACO – Agents and officers in the Rio Grande Valley border are looking for signs of illness amid rising coronavirus concerns.

Customs and Border Protection spokesman, Dustin Araujo says their staff is trained to look for signs of illness and to refer cases to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health officials.

According to CBP, people who have been to Wuhan, China will be referred to the CDC.

People with symptoms, who were in China in the last 14 days, will also be referred.

The agency is also working on expanding its health screening procedures at 20 locations.
