MERCEDES – A local woman says her home is still unfinished after paying a contractor thousands of dollars to repair damage from June's floods.

Diana Grower says her home on Colorado Street in Mercedes got about six inches of water inside.

She says the Federal Emergency Management Agency gave her $10,000 for repairs and her church raised an additional $26,000 for her home.

Grower says she wrote out an agreement describing the work the contractor allegedly agreed to do and paid him in advance $35,000 in full.

She explains five months after the contractor was hired, little to no work has been done.

KRGV’s Daisy Martinez spoke with the contractor’s wife to learn more.

She says she's aware of the unfinished work, but says her husband is in jail and that's why he can't finish the job.

She says her husband has an upcoming court date and should be out of jail by mid-February.

Gower is staying with relatives, but says she's ready to come home.
