A film shot in the Rio Grande Valley is now streaming nationwide.

Borderline, filmed in Brownsville in 2023, is now available on Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango.

Valley filmmaker and actress Brenda Patricia Garza plays a supporting role in the film. She said it's proof you don't have to leave the Valley to make it in the industry.

"If more cities in the Valley became film friendly, more eyes would be on the Valley," Garza said. "The more eyes that we have and people really understand that there is a lot of talent, both in front and behind the camera, I feel like more productions, with bigger budgets, can come and obviously spend on our economy."

The film follows a group of ex-U.S. military members who join forces with political operatives to place abducted Mexican gang members in cities, hoping to create criminal chaos and build support for radical political agendas.

Borderline was an $850,000 production that Garza said also brought a boost to the local economy.

Garza hopes to see more productions come to the Valley.
