MERCEDES – The Military Highway Water Supply Corporation issued a boil water notice.

People living in Bluetown, Los Indios and South Rangerville are being affected.

General manager, Ramon Rosales Jr., said the state-mandated advisory comes after a water line break, near FM 675, east of FM 2520, that caused the water pressure to dip under state standards.

It’s believed the recent rains in the area caused some shifting in the ground and may have been what caused the line break.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS is told customers won’t see a disruption to their water system pressure.

The company is asking customers to boil their water for two minutes before using it for cooking, drinking or making ice.

Rosales said the notice will remain in effect until the water can be tested for any potential bacterial buildup. The earliest that could happen is Tuesday.

We’ll continue to report any new updates.
