WESLACO – It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of State Trooper Moises Sanchez.

Trooper Sanchez’s wife confirms that he passed Saturday afternoon.

He had his final scheduled procedure Thursday.

Sanchez was readmitted into surgery in critical condition Friday morning, where doctors proceeded to treat him.

The Department of Public Safety trooper was shot back in April after responding to a traffic accident.
