WESLACO – The Department of Health and Human Services wants to reduce the number of emergency room visits caused by the flu.
During the last flu season, more than 900 deaths were reported in our region.
KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with Emilie Prot, the DSHS regional medical director.
"We saw a lot of flu activity, we saw hospitalization due to the flu. Our ERs that were overcrowded, and so we really want people to prevent illness and to reduce the symptoms,” says Prot.
