MISSION – A former Mission Consolidated Independent School District teacher pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of improper relationship with a student, a second-degree felony.

Edna M. Longoria, 39, of McAllen was a teacher at Veterans Memorial High School in Mission.

On Thursday, Longoria entered a plea deal in which one of the two counts of improper relationship between an educator and a student was dropped under certain conditions including entering a guilty plea.

In March 2019, administrators contacted the Mission Police Department about allegations that Longoria had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

According to the criminal complaint, the student said he had a sexual relationship with Longoria and had "multiple sexual encounters" at the school.

The student provided police with text messages and Snapchat messages between him and Longoria. The criminal complaint describes the messages as "inappropriate and contained material of sexual nature."

The police department "processed" a classroom where the student said he engaged in sexual activity with Longoria. They recovered "multiple biological fluids" and surveillance video that confirmed the student's story.
