SACRAMENTO, CA – In his five seasons as a pro, Dusten Knight had only played Class A ball until this year, when he was called up to Triple-A Sacramento.

"When I got the call I was super excited, super stoked you know,” said the former UTPA pitcher. “Most all these guys are major leaguers so it's been great to pitch against experience and learn how to pitch at the major league level. "

Knight has been a starter and a reliever for the River Cats in Sacramento.

"You know, they just say keep doing what I've been doing in the pen. Keep on attacking hitters like I said earlier, just pounding the zone and getting them off balance. Just trying to work ahead in counts. And just showing them all your stuff, being able to throw more than one pitch for a strike,” said Knight.

Knight hopes to make the majors one day. He says his time in the Valley helped him get to where he is today.

"Being at UTPA, Manny (Mantrana) taught me a lot, not only on the baseball field. That's just what I do, but he taught me as a person. Just work hard, pursue everything I can with all my heart,” said Knight.

So far this season, Knight has made 17 appearances for Sacramento.
