Former Valley Bond Dealer Sentenced to 3 Years in Prison
MCALLEN – A former bail bond company and hotel owner will spend three years in prison.
Hema Patel was sentenced for smuggling hundreds of people into the U.S. illegally.
Authorities say she used forged documents to bond foreigners out of immigration custody.
They say most of her customers were from India.
The judge also ordering Patel to forfeit her McAllen home, both motels, 11 gold bars, $7.2 million in bail bonds and $400,000.
