MISSION – An animal cruelty investigation underway in Hidalgo County.

Authorities say someone shot a woman’s dog last night in Mission.

The dog’s owner heard gunshots outside, according to officials.

She found her dog in the backyard with a wound to a leg.

Authorities are now searching for witnesses and surveillance video.
