INDIAN HILLS – An Hidalgo County man is sharing his concerns about an abandoned home next to his.

Daniel Romero has lived in an Indian Hills colonia for almost 30 years; he says the home next door has been empty for about half of that.

He says it attracts unwanted visitors.

“All kinds of animals go in there. Even animals with two feet. They’re out there at night causing problems,” said Romero.

Romero added security cameras to his property and started cleaning both yards to keep people away.

“It’s not my property, but I try to take care of it because it’s right next to my house,” he said.

He tried to purchase the land a few years ago, but found out someone does own the home.
