The city of McAllen on Monday hosted a ribbon cutting for the new water activity rental facility at Town Lake at Firemen’s Park.

The new H2O Hut gives the community access to paddle boards, kayaks, fishing rods, and paddle boats. The new attraction will be open for rentals starting Friday, July 22. Costs start at $20.

“Now they’re going to have an opportunity to kayak or to go into these paddle boats,” said District 6 McAllen City Commissioner Pepe Cabeza de Vaca. “This enhances the quality of life of the people. It creates memories for families and for future generations.”

It will be open every Friday through Sunday from 4 p.m. to sunset until October.

During the fall, it’ll only open on the weekends.

Lifeguards will be on duty to keep the community safe.
