BROWNSVILLE – A group of people woke up extra early this Thanksgiving to bring a little joy.

Volunteers with the International Christian Center’s Love Brownsville outreach ministry have been up since 4 a.m. Thursday preparing a warm Thanksgiving meal for those in-need.

The director says they started serving Thanksgiving lunch five years ago at the Good Neighbor Settlement House. Since then, word has spread and they expect to feed almost 300 people.

“I have about 13 guys at the house frying 30 turkeys and everybody is bringing their mashed potatoes, their green beans, casseroles, their rolls, desserts and everybody volunteers. We don't ask for any money from the church for Thanksgiving. We just do it all on our own,” said Marie Vidos with Love Brownsville.

Vidos says it brings all the volunteers joy to be able to serve the less fortunate.
