Lockouts at 3 McAllen ISD Schools Lifted, All Suspects in Custody

MCALLEN – Lockouts at three McAllen ISD schools were lifted after DPS located all suspects involved in a Monday morning chase and bailout, according to district police.

Mark May, a district spokesperson, told CHANNEL 5 NEWS lockouts at Brown Middle School, Bonham Elementary and Jose De Escandon Elementary went into effect at 11:20 a.m. 

District police issued out a statement on social media this morning saying a vehicle pursuit ended in an accident near Ware Rd. and Expressway 83. As of 12:40 p.m., they said DPS told them all suspects were in custody. 

Several people suspected of being in the country illegally fled the scene in different directions. 

DPS Lt. Johnny Hernandez said multiple people were detained at a parking lot of a nearby Dollar General. 

May said there was no direct threat to any campus and the lockout was activated as a precaution.
