BROWNSVILLE – A Rio Grande Valley man was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after stabbing a bar employee in the face.

It happened in the parking lot of Shenanigans Irish Pub and Grill in Brownsville Sunday night.

Law enforcement said it was an altercation that got out of hand.

“There was a fight that was reported in the parking lot of this establishment. And apparently, two of the workers from Shenanigans were there trying to stop the fight,” said Brownsville police public information officer J.J. Trevino. “One of them got hurt by one of the individuals who ended up arrested and charged.”

That employee was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect, Hector Trejo, was released after posting a $50,000 bond.

The incident is still under investigation by Brownsville police.
