ALAMO – Hundreds of residents in Alamo say they've had to deal with a foul odor for years.

The nearby nuisance, the Alamo Waste Water treatment plant, has eight lagoons and sits on 80 acres of city property.

Now, a new mechanical waste water treatment plant is in the works after several families in a small colonia got a settlement from the city.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas spoke with a resident who has lived near the facility for 35 years.

"The smell is different and it depends on the day, weather, wind and rain," says resident Rosa Martinez.

The new facility will cost more than $10 million and should alleviate the smell.
