No death penalty for McAllen man accused of kidnapping, killing ex-wife

The state will not seek the death penalty in the case of a McAllen man accused of killing his ex-wife, according to court records.  

Richard Ford was indicted on charges of capital murder, assault, and stalking in February.

Authorities say 37-year-old Melissa Banda was taken from her McAllen home last August after a struggle with Ford. Her body was later found in a rural area in Donna. 

Ford is due back in court in January.
