ALAMO – Parents in Alamo say back-to-school traffic congestion has worsened due to a construction project.

Many of the parents CHANNEL 5 NEWS spoke with say travel time from their homes to Audie Murphy Middle School has more than doubled.

Robert Gonzalez, whose daughter’s school is located off of Alamo Road, says he’s considering switching school districts.

“It’s chaos. It’s pretty bad,” he says. “I don’t get it, whose fault is it?”

KRGV’s Taylor Winkel learned the traffic jams are partly due to a Texas Department of Transportation project that will widen Alamo Road and repair inadequate drainage and road conditions.
