BROWNSVILLE – The Texas Rangers have started investigating Monday’s fatal officer involved shooting in Brownsville.

Police say several officers were involved.

Authorities say when Mark Anthony Galvan rammed his vehicle into patrol units, police opened fire.

Texas Rangers are now tasked to determine if the shooting was justified.

Meanwhile, the shooting prompted reaction from people living near the area.

A woman says she was asleep when she heard what sounded similar to fireworks.

For this report, we’re referring to her as “Jill”.

“I didn't realize they were gun shots. I just thought our cooling system had gone off and had broken, but I noticed that it didn't break. So I opened the door and I saw all the cops,” said Jill.

Right from her front doorstep, yellow tent markers and investigators could be seen.
