UPDATE (2/6): Weslaco approved borrowing $4 million for drainage improvements last October.

The city's drainage committee and city workers will meet next week to discuss other drainage improvements.

WESLACO – A Rio Grande Valley city is still rebuilding from June’s floods.

The 11 inches of rain the fell in Weslaco caused thousands of dollars of damage.

A local resident tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS he lost two cars and everything inside the house.

Voters approved a bond issued in November after a post-storm assessment of the floods.

It will provide funds for a detention pond, which will collect water in one of the most flood-prone areas in Hidalgo County.

KRGV’s Cecilia Gutierrez has the details.
