SAN JUAN – The city of San Juan is starting Stage 2 water restrictions.

Residents will only be able to water lawns or wash vehicles once a day on two specific days of the week.

If you live north of Expressway 83, you can water Tuesdays and Fridays. For those who live south of the expressway, watering days are Mondays and Thursdays.

Watering is limited between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

If you’re washing your vehicle or watering by hand with a hose, there must be a flow control nozzle in place to ensure no water is wasted.

“Right now with this heat wave, and the fact that we’re expanding the water treatment plant with the current construction, it’s not allowing us to do some of the work that we need to do,” David Salinas, the utility director, said.

The water restrictions will be lifted as soon as the expansion project at the water treatment plant is finished, which is expected before December of this year.
