Teen driver and a juvenile among the arrests made following a Brownsville police chase
A 17-year-old driver, a 19-year-old man, and a juvenile were arrested in connection with an auto theft investigation following a Wednesday police chase, according to the Brownsville Police Department.
The driver, identified as 17-year-old Jose Antonio Reyna, and one of the passengers, 19-year-old Julio Eduardo Flores, were arraigned on multiple charges Thursday.
According to a news release, the police chase started at around 5 a.m. Wednesday when officers saw a vehicle driven by Reyna disregard red lights on Palm Boulevard.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Reyna’s vehicle near South Frontage Road, but Reyna refused to stop.
The vehicle pursuit ended near East 12th and Ringgold streets when all three occupants, including the unnamed juvenile, of the vehicle ran out of the car. They were eventually caught.
Reyna, who had active warrants for engaging in organized criminal activity and theft of a motor vehicle, is now charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle, evading arrest, five counts of theft of a motor vehicle, six counts of engaging in organized criminal activity, and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
Flores was charged with evading arrest, four counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and four counts of engaging in organized criminal activity.
Police did not say what the juvenile was charged with.
Bond for Flores was set at $155,000, and Reyna's bond was set at $245,000.
