MCALLEN – A dangerous McAllen roadway will be getting some improvements. This comes after a car crashed into a house over the weekend.

McAllen City Engineer Yvette Barrera says the curve on Oxford Road and 36th Street has had multiple crashes over the years.

Two of those crashes ended up in the master bedroom of a home. Barrera says they will make major improvements to that roadway.

“Actually worked with our traffic operations division and so we are going to be installing metal beam guard fence along the fence line of the house and we are looking at what additional measure could be installed along the curve itself,” said Barrera.

They’ve also added extra lighting and updated rumble strips to help remind drivers to slow down.
