EDINBURG – With only a few days from Thanksgiving, many families in the Rio Grande Valley are feeling grateful for a small gesture from the community.

The Edinburg police and fire departments gathered at the Edinburg Parks and Recreation area for the Edinburg Cares Drive.

They are distributing turkeys for families in-need.

Berenice Linares is a mother of two who attends St. Joseph Church in Edinburg. She drove in from Hargill to pick a turkey.

For her, this small gesture is something she’s not taking for granted.
