WESLACO – A Hidalgo County judge is expressing his opposition to a change in the upcoming 2020 census.

Hidalgo County Judge Ramon Garcia says if the controversial citizenship question is included in the survey, the people in charge would be violating the U.S. Constitution.

He says the Rio Grande Valley stands to lose a lot of money if non-citizens are not counted.

He recently wrote to lawmakers urging them to get rid of the question.
