Weslaco forms faith-based emergency response coalition
Nearly two dozen church leaders met with Weslaco city leaders Tuesday for the first meeting of the city’s faith-based coalition.
The church leaders met with the Weslaco Office of Emergency Management.
“The goal of this new coalition is to unite local church leaders in strengthening our community’s ability to respond during times of need,” the city said in a social media post. “By working side by side, faith-based partners and the city can build a stronger safety net for our residents and ensure support is available when it matters most.”
The city plans to include church leaders during their yearly disaster preparedness meeting set for June 2026.
